Getting a Website – For Non-techie Businessmen

Without getting too technical, I will try to lay out the steps you need to take to get a website.

  1. Get Domain Names com is a domain name. You will need to find a domain name that’s suitable for your business. It does not have to be your business name. Can you buy more than one domain name? Yes you can. As a matter of fact, it’s a good idea to buy several. Where can you purchase a domain name ? Godaddy and Moniker are the two most popular sites you can purchase a domain name at. There are many other domain registrars besides the two. The price is around $10/year. You can purchase using credit card or Paypal. The domain name you want is not available. What should you do? During the search for your domain name you will realize that all the nice domain names have been purchased by other already. This can be pretty frustrating. A thing that I suggest all my clients is to create a very unique domain that is not a dictionary word. Here is an example of a unique domain name – . The word itself does not mean anything. At least not in English. But it has that toy store ring to it. Her is a link to get more details on domain names. Webdesign
  2. Hosting :- If you were to run a brick-and-mortar store, you would probably be paying a certain landlord a monthly or a yearly rental / leasing fee. In the same manner, you will need to rent a rental fee to a landlord on the net to keep your site running. This landlord on the net is commonly known as a Hosting Company or simply Host. The prices for a hosting companies vary wildly based on various factors including the disk space, bandwidth and all the other confusing factors for a beginner. I would highly recommend asking your web designer about the right hosting. For most websites a good price for hosting is around $10/month. Again, you can use your credit card to pay for this online. สล็อตpgเว็บตรง
  3. Web Designer :- Perhaps this step should be the first step. Search on the internet for terms like “web designer” and “web developer”. Although it’s not necessary to get a web designer from your town, it might be a good idea to find one just for consultation purposes. So if you are from Jersey City, New Jersey, you would search for “web designers in Jersey City” or “Jersey City we designers”. Create a list of questions on paper and start calling a couple of webdesigners. Here is a brief list of topics you could discuss with a webdesigner. a. Examples of his/her work. b. General pricing. A web designer will not be able to give you a flat price without knowing the details of the website you are planning to create. c. Hosting company he reccomends. d. How does he expect to get paid….credit cards, cash, checks etc. e. What will the payment plan be like mobile-casino
  4. Merchant Account and SSL :- This step is not required unless you are planning to charge your online. For example, an e-commerce shopping cart site is a website where a customer pays for a product or server over the internet using credit card or Paypal or some other payment method. The merchant account is provided by either a bank or a company online called MSP (Merchant Service Provider). By the way, if you accept credit cards in your brick-and-mortar / offline store, it does not mean you can use this for online purposes also. MSP’s usually take about 2 to 4 weeks to provide you a merchant account. This is usually after you provide them with all the business info they ask for. There are alternate solutions like Paypal, Google Checkout and The SSL is a service that you will need to purchase in order to make your site secure for credit card transactions.
